Clean Your 904, formerly known as Keep Jax Beach Clean is an emerging nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing community members together to keep our beaches, parks, and streets clean. We aim to inspire our community by organizing cleanups throughout Jacksonville and to spread awareness of environmental consciousness to our youth by visiting local elementary and middle schools.
The vision for this organization started in 2012, when our founder, Allison Shirley organized her first beach cleanup with her UNF Volleyball team. Only 15 people showed up, they set up a broken tent, and the prize for the cigarette butt competition was a free surf lesson (from Allison and her teammate). From then on, she was determined to make an impact in her community by organizing beach cleanups. As the momentum of the initiative grew, In 2018 Allison finally put a name to her events and created, Keep Jax Beach Clean. That same year we organized 6 beach cleanups with and average of 300 volunteers each event. With the success of the cleanups and the support of the community we were inspired to further our impact to all of Jacksonville by rebranding to Clean Your 904.
Our goal is to organize cleanups all over the 904 to join together our community members and local businesses to make a positive impact in Jacksonville. We LOVE our city and take pride in keeping Jacksonville CLEAN! We also plan to visit 17 elementary and middle school classrooms this Spring to teach the students the importance of keeping our environment clean and how they can make an impact.

What you are passionate about?
I have always had a passion for being involved in my community. I love the feeling of being a part of the team and collectively contributing to it's success. I also have a deep love for the city of Jacksonville. I stayed after college to make it my home without having any family here because I I knew this was a special place. Aside from my love of creating Clean Your 904 my second passion is teaching swimming to students of all ages and abilities. I have a special love for teaching my students with autism how to swim by tapping into the unique way they learn and to highlight their abilities not their disabilities.

What you are passionate about?
Aside from the world of Art+Design, my passions revolve around our natural environment, it provides serenity and beauty to our daily lives. I think we need to focus on protecting/preserving our land, making less waste, and striving to utilize the materials we have (in some cases making treasure out of trash). By intertwining design with this passion I hope to reach a wider audience and inspire others.
